History of DIET, Puri

Erstwhile Secondary Training School (STS), Puri was upgraded to the status of DIET, Puri in the year 2010. Moving on the way forward, DIET, Puri has been serving as a Teacher Education Institution of Puri district with a focus to improve the quality of education at elementary level. Besides, DIET, Puri provides academic and hand-hold support to the Teachers, BRCCs, CRCCs and other stakeholders at the grass-roots level to make them capable to success different programmes of Government by establishing a strong relationship through its extension activities.

The total land area of DIET, Puri is Ac 2.075 decimal. The institution has its own land and own building to function over. It has one multi-purpose hall, 6 classrooms, 1 library, 1 ICT Lab and 1 hostel for boys to its infrastructural credibility.

Vision

  • To grow into a premier institute of resources, research, educational technology and skill development in the field of teacher education in India. Through all this, we at the DIET are working to empower teachers who will ensure that every child in Puri shall receive learning that helps them to be happy, responsible, healthy and productive citizens.
  • A long- term vision for DIET would help identify common goals and values, as well as fundamental changes in institutional mandates necessary to achieve those goals. The overarching vision for DIET in Puri is to substantially raise the quality of school education and teacher education through increased innovation, effective teaching and application of knowledge

Mission

  • To raise the quality of school education by improving the attitudes, increasing the application of knowledge and enhancing the teaching skills of teachers
  • To provide academic and professional support and guidance to agencies and institutions working in the field of education, population and development education, child rights and environmental protection, eco-friendly lifestyle, community education etc.
  • To collaborate with other agencies, institutions, and organizations for the cause of quality in school education and teacher education programmes.
